Welcome!
Twomey Travel (2me Travel) represents the synthesis of years of travel, writing and sharing experiences. Although a published author, Patrick began writing his first real blog in 2014 while working in Peru.
As an international tour guide / operator and lecturer, Patrick is part of a much larger community of ethical travellers.
Throughout these many pages are fun discussions of trips, destinations and, from time to time, ethical issues.
Much of this 2me Travel site focuses on the Americas in general, but in no way limits itself. This is first and foremost a site dedicated to the love of travel! It is governed by the support of group travel and strongly influenced by ethical awareness. Please enjoy, share, participate and join our journeys!

Nova Scotia (Acadie) & Cape Breton – a Cultural Tapestry
Located on Canada’s Atlantic coast, ‘New Scotland’ consists principally of a long thin, peninsula and culturally distinct Cape Breton Island to the North East. Nova Scotia is distinctly maritime with no one living more than about 50 km’s from salt water. It has ebbed and flowed from geo-political and strategic importance, to a sometimes rather […]

What’s Happening in Chile
A 30 pesos (4 cent) rise in the price of a Metro (Subway) ticket has unleashed a level of anger few outside observers predicted. People have rioted, train stations burned, a state of emergency imposed and there have even been deaths. This is tragic, but perhaps not entirely surprising. Chile is Latin America’s success story. I May Cry For You … Argentina
I have been on record a few times contemplating moving to Argentina. Despite its utterly ridiculous political history, the country is magnificent. Subtropical jungle, pampas, high altitude desert, the Andes, Patagonian steppe and Tierra del Fuego – the Land of Fire! 45 million people spread over a massive territory, with a delicious (albeit carnivorous) culinary […]

Hong Kong – Sensory Overload
This ‘Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China’ is the fourth most densely populated territory on Earth. 1st is Macao (a short boat ride away), 2nd Monaco (but it is tiny), 3rd Singapore and then Hong Kong (HK). HK is home to about 7.5 million people and is smaller than greater London – […]

Japan Revealed – Sakura Included
Japan tour April 2019 Make sure to check out our gallery at the bottom of the post! Spotting Cherry Blossoms in Japan during most of the year generally involves looking at posters, paintings or even traditional clothes. But during spring (later March through April), and when the weather cooperates, the trees erupt with pink flowers. […]

Guayaquil, Ecuador; Bananas, Heat & Urban Renewal – A New, New Destination
Guayaquil – Ecuador’s largest city is hot and humid. The sprawling city boasts a tropical, savanna climate. I have always visited during the first half of the year, when afternoon rain is common and daytime highs approach the mid-30’s (90’s f). Much hotter when humidity is factored in. Guayaquil has long had a reputation as […]
